Our Mission

An ongoing effort...

The news organizations and their cameras brought the devastation that occurred in Haiti into the world’s living rooms. As the news coverage is rapidly fading, so are the possiblities for solutions for the Haitian people. It will be organizations like HAOSED that will carry on the work of rebuilding a shattered country.

It is estimated that there are nearly one million orphaned children under the age of 18 after the earthquake. This greatly adds to an already existing problem.

Prior to the disaster, the illiteracy rate was over 50%. The unemployment rate was over 80% and Haiti was among the poorest countries in the world.

Since the earthquake, what little infrastructure and stability there was is now gone.

Our mission is to raise funds to directly assist the citizens of Haiti through church organizations such as The Black Ministry Alliance and The Way of the Cross Holy Church of Dorchester Massachusetts. These organizations have direct contact with the people of Haiti and are able to assess the most current needs of the victims. With so many homes, schools and churches destroyed and the scarcity of food worsening daily, the rebuilding of this country and it’s resources will take years. HAOSED is committed to the long term support and rebuilding of the Haitian motherland and preservation of it’s culture.

Your generous contribution will help us ease the suffering by supplying food, clothing and education where it is needed most. Even after the television cameras and the media have turned away, we hope you will not.

Please help.
